Important Reminders

Student Safety - Once students are on campus, they are required to stay on campus unless signed out by a parent or guardian. This is to ensure that all of our Olympia students are safe and supervised at all times.

Student IDs- Students are required to display their student IDs upon entering the school campus. Currently, they are required to have them at all times while on campus to ensure they are in the right locations when their class has a substitute, attend school events, and participate in other related school activities.

Student Parking - To ensure safety and maintain smooth traffic flow during morning drop-off, students are not permitted to back into parking spaces in the Junior lot. Backing in creates visibility issues and disrupts the drop-off process for families. All student drivers must pull forward into their parking spot and check for clear pathways before crossing.

Cell Phones & iPads/tablets & Headphones - From first to last bell, students may not use cell phones, iPads, tablets, smartwatches, earbuds, or headphones. Per OCPS policy, all devices must be silenced and stored in a backpack or purse for the entire school day, including during class changes and lunch. If a student is found using a device, they will be required to turn it in. After the first offense, progressive discipline will follow. For more information, visit www.ocps.net to view the Code of Student Conduct.

🎓 Senior Check-Out & Final Requirements
Soon, every senior will receive their Senior Check-Out Form, which contains the full procedures for checking out. To get the CCRC sign-off, students must complete these four essential items to aid in a smooth process:
  1. FAFSA Completion (Federal Student Aid)
  2. Florida Financial Aid Application (FFAA/Bright Futures)
  3. Senior Survey
  4. Post-Secondary Plans (Finalizing plans for after high school)
🏆 Upcoming Celebrations
  • Academic Signing Day (4/16/26): We will be hosting a celebration in the Gym exclusively for our Seniors. This is a special time for the Class of 2026 to celebrate their academic decisions together. Please note this event is for students only, as it is a dedicated moment for them to bond and recognize their collective "BIG plans" for the future.
  • Senior Awards (4/21/26): Our Invitation Only Senior Awards will take place on April 21st. Both parents and students will receive an invitation if they are being recognized.

đź“… CCRC Availability & Support I have included my calendar so you can see my availability over the next two weeks. We have extended after-school hours until 7:00 PM on the following dates to assist parents and students with FAFSA completion:

  • Monday, 3/30/26: 2:30 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Tuesday, 3/31/26: 2:30 PM – 6:00 PM
  • Thursday, 4/2/26: 2:30 PM – 6:00 PM

đź’° Scholarships & Attendance
  • Scholarships: Money is still available! Please remind your student to utilize Xello to search for active scholarships.
  • No "Senioritis": Attendance is vital. Colleges can rescind admission offers due to poor attendance or declining grades during the senior year. Please encourage your student to avoid "Senioritis" and attend school every day.
  • Daily Emails: It is vitally important that students check their emails daily for updates.

Please continue to have conversations with your students to help them with their decision-making. We are almost there!

Go Titans!

Failing Forward: Turning Setbacks into Your Greatest Strategy

Life doesn’t always go according to plan, and for many of our students, the last few weeks may have brought some tough news—whether it’s a college denial, a waitlist, or a grade that wasn’t expected. At Olympia, we want our students to know: No one gets to judge your journey!

"Failing forward" is the art of using a setback as a stepping stone rather than a stop sign. Please be cautious with your student's feelings during this time, but help them stay upbeat with these pointers on how to turn a "no" into a new strategy:

  • Feel the Feeling, Then Move: It is okay to be disappointed. Acknowledge the feelings of a denial or setback first. Once the air is cleared, help them look at the next best option with fresh eyes.
  • Audit the Experience: Ask, "What did I learn about what I want?" Sometimes a denial from one school helps a student realize they actually prefer a different program or location.
  • Refine the Goal: A setback is often just a detour. If the goal is still the same, look for alternative routes, such as transfer programs, different majors, or specialized certifications.
  • Keep Perspective: One "no" does not define a student’s worth or their future success. Some of the most successful people in the world built their careers on the lessons they learned from their initial failures.
