Important Reminders

Student Safety - Once students are on campus, they are required to stay on campus unless signed out by a parent or guardian. This is to ensure that all of our Olympia students are safe and supervised at all times.

Morning Student Drop Off - Cars must follow the designated traffic pattern when dropping off students in the morning. Please pull all the way forward to the front of the auditorium. Stopping at the curve causes unnecessary backups and delays in the drop-off line. Your cooperation helps keep our car line safe and efficient for everyone.

Cell Phones & iPads/tablets & Headphones - From first to last bell, students may not use cell phones, iPads, tablets, smartwatches, earbuds, or headphones. Per OCPS policy, all devices must be silenced and stored in a backpack or purse for the entire school day, including during class changes and lunch. If a student is found using a device, they will be required to turn it in. After the first offense, progressive discipline will follow. For more information, visit www.ocps.net to view the Code of Student Conduct.

🚨 STAY THE COURSE! 🚨

Seniors, you must STAY THE COURSE and finish Semester 1 strong! College applications are not over once you hit 'submit.' Your performance now directly affects your standing with accepted schools.

  • Colleges Request Mid-Year Reports: Colleges and universities request Mid-Year Grade Reports for applicants. They receive these reports and review the data to ensure admitted students are maintaining their performance level.

  • Admissions CAN Be Rescinded: This is a serious reality—colleges and universities HAVE rescinded admission offers due to a drop in grades or a drop in attendance. A drop in academic performance or excessive absences can cost you your acceptance. Your academic integrity and effort in these final weeks of the semester are vital.

🌃 REMINDER: Senior Parent Night: What’s Next!

All senior parents, guardians, and students are invited and strongly encouraged to attend our upcoming "What's Next Senior Night," sponsored by APEX. This is a crucial event covering everything your family needs to know as college decisions start coming in.

Topics Include: Financial Aid, Scholarships, and the Next Steps in the enrollment process.

🧡 Student Services News: As We Return to the Final Push of the Semester!

The Student Services focus this week is the Semester - Push! With the Thanksgiving break behind us, we are entering the final critical period of the semester. This is the time to apply all the focus and planning needed to finish with the best possible grades.

Three Keys to Finishing Strong

The key to succeeding now is execution. Encourage your student to apply these practical steps:

  • Review Your Plan: Have your student check their planner or digital calendar against all class syllabi. Identify every remaining test, paper, and project deadline for the next few weeks.
  • Prioritize Hardest Tasks: Encourage them to dedicate the first study block of the day to the hardest subject or the task with the nearest deadline. Don't procrastinate on the big items!
  • Manage Stress with Sleep: Adequate rest (7-9 hours per night) is scientifically proven to boost memory and focus. A well-rested student is far more effective than an exhausted one.
